Art, Culture and Food: All together, what else does one need to enjoy life?

Our guide will meet you either at your hotel or at a designated meeting point and we will begin our travel into the wonderful delights of Florence.

Florence by foot with our experienced guides is an amazing journey and we begin this with a walk through Piazza Santa Maria Novella, where we explore one of the oldest churches in Florence which is a treasure trove of art.

We then travel towards one of the oldest pharmacies in Florence. This building is indeed a classic one with its high ceilings, frescoes and tastefully designed glass cabinets exhibiting its wares which include creams, perfumes, soaps and other luxury items. You can sample some of the products before you buy them. These products are of international standards and are made by Nuns following time tested recipes and formulations using the best of natural herbs and spices.

After sampling these natural delights we will reach a small food store tucked away in a small but significant corner of the city. This shop stocks all the typical food items like legumes, grains, beans and other items which constitute the typical Tuscan diet.

The Piazza della Republica situated in the centre of Florence is our next stop. This beautiful piazza with its numerous cafes, shops and pigeons is the ideal place to do some “people watching”. This is the social centre of Florence and all the streets surrounding the piazzas are commercial hubs dotted with innumerable stores and shops.

Coffee sipping is another favorite Florentine pastime and where better to do it than the coffee shop which is also a “choclatier”. Here you can try out some unique varieties of chocolates made with saffron, rose petals etc. After the chocolaty delights you can browse at a flea market which sells almost everything from art works to furniture to old photos to antique door knockers. Just browse around and you may even be lucky to pick up a bargain for when you when back home.

After all the shopping we will have a relaxed and typical lunch in one of the most intriguing and interesting fresh foods market. After lunch we will proceed towards Piazza San Croce. Here we will spend some time at the church, which is filled with tombs of Italy’s illustrious sons. Now we will proceed to Florence’s show piece piazza which is the Piazza della Signorina. Here we will explore the magnificent Palazzo Vecchio and admire Ammanati’s Neptune fountain. Proceeding from the piazza we will reach the Uffizi Gallery which has an incredible collection of art and paintings including masterpieces by Botticelli, Titian and Michelangelo. Heading down the river from the Uffizi we will reach Ponte Vecchio. This fourteenth century bridge with its tiny jewelry shops is one of the most photographed bridges in Europe.

We will finish sightseeing for the day at the “Duomo”, Florence famous cathedral with its intricately patterned pink, white and green marble exterior and Brunelleschi’s magnificent cupola. After savouring these delights all day long our driver will drop you at your hotel or the designated point.
