Begining at 9.30a.m. from your accommodation in Florence, your day starts with a drive through the stunning Tuscan landscape on your way to visit the ancient wine cellars of a local castle.
After the cellars tours and a tasting of the excellent Chianti Classico and Riserva produce onsite, you then proceed to a smaller and newer winery for a further tasting.
This will give you the opportunity to compare and appreciate the differences between the old and the new methods of wine production.
Your journey continues, driving through beautiful vineyards and olive groves, and passing through the pretty market town of Greve in Chianti. We will admire the beautiful triangular piazza which has served as a market place for centuries, serving the nearby villages and castle communities. This market showcases typical products from the Tuscan region and is known for selling some of the best Tuscan produce available in the entire region.
Proceeding onto Radda in Chianti, we can admire the gorgeous view of Chianti from this medieval hilltop town. The headquarters of the Chianti Classico Consortium (inidcated by the Black Rooster symbol) is just outside this town.
We will continue driving through picturesque Tuscan vineyards and the thick wooded Sienese forests until we reach the lovely little village of Panzano. Originally a medieval castle, some of its walls and towers are still preserved to this day. Quite nearby, we will find the next winery on our tour. This newer winery produces great quality Chianti Classico and Riserva. Aside from the cellar visit and wine tasting, you are also able to taste olive oil also produced on site.
No Tuscan day tour is complete without lunching at a charming Tuscan 'trattoria' in the area, famous for its traditional Tuscan cuisine.
We will drop you back at your hotel or villa in Florence around 5.30 pm.
